It has been too long since Andy and I have been to Knoxville but we were so glad to be back in town and on campus. We were really impressed with the renovations to the stadium.








While spending so much time on the road Hatcher decided he was an expert driver. At almost every stop he insisted on sitting at the steering wheel and making Vroom! Vroom! noises. While traveling he also was changed often in the back of the car and it was almost always a wrestling match to get clothes back on him. Here we had just finished lunch (where he was given a Cowboy hat by the manager) and Hatch was ready to go....I just love this picture.

OBX.....

Our first family vacation (a least the first major long distance one) was to Outer Banks, North Carolina. We headed there to celebrate the marriage of Chip (Andy's brother) and Mary. We left early on Friday morning and made it all the way to Asheville, NC before Hatch needed a break. There we had a great time exploring the large Farmer's Market and having a country lunch. However, when we arrived at the Farmer's Market we realized that in our haste of late night packing we had not packed our child a single pair of shoes...so needless to say we stopped at several different stores throughout our trip to obtain a rather nice shoe collection.

After Asheville, we made it to Raleigh for dinner and our overnight stay. After a little shopping (shoe and hat for Hatcher) we were on our way to Kills Devil Hill, NC. The Outer Banks were truly beautiful and a much nicer, classier type of beach town than those in the Gulf and around Florida. Chip and Mary's wedding was so sweet and lovely and we are delighted to have Mary in the family.

On our journey back home we took Hatcher to our second home....Rocky Top... Knoxville, TN and showed him around our favorite spots. It was a great summer trip.

Hatcher was ready for a nap and not so much into the sight-seeing...but he stayed pretty calm and quiet while we marveled at the birth place of aviation.

Packing for Outer Banks....

Hatcher really enjoyed helping us pack for the trip. He would have preferred to travel in the suitcase instead of his carseat. If you think he looks tired, he is. We were packing at 11:30 the night before we left and were keeping him awake so he would sleep a lot the next day in the car....it is a 13 hour drive to the Outer Banks. We had to break it into 2 days for Hatcher's sake but he was an EXCELLENT traveler.
